WELCOME

The Children of Zion Village is a Christian home for orphans in the southern African nation of Namibia. It is located along the Zambezi River in the northeast corner of Namibia. Our children come from several different tribal and language groups.

The "village" opened in January, 2003 and is now home to 57 children. Most of the children have been placed in our care because they have lost their parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles to AIDS.

Here the boys and girls receive love, nutrition, shelter, healthcare, academic, vocational and Bible education, and become part of one large Christian family. Our missionaries, volunteers, and Namibian staff work together to raise the children in our "village".

COZV Athletes

A group of our students participated in a regional track competition, with a number of them gaining wins. Djolo and Lisedi ran with times fast enough to qualify them for the national competition recently held in Swakopmund. Both did very well, and Djolo received the bronze medal. In this photo he is standing next to Frank Fredericks, a Namibian world track champion who currently sits on the International Olympic Committee.

Goty and Petro have been playing soccer on a regional adult team and have been offered spots on a team traveling to Windhoek this week to play in the televised Coca-Cola Cup.

Wonderful Visitors

Much excitement was evident this week at COZV as Travis and Lorna Curry, our newly appointed COZV directors, arrived on-site for a visit. The Curry's will return to the states in order to complete their training and support raising, and hope to have everything in place to serve COZV full-time sometime in the fall. The children, the staff, and the local community all greeted the Curry's warmly and are looking forward to having them move in.

Music cds, and 2010 calendars!

Hot off the press is our 2010 Children of Zion Village calendar, filled with beautiful photos of our COZV kids. Please contact our office if you'd like to purchase one.

Hot out of the recording studio is our first COZV music cd, "Milumo Yaku Lumbeka", which means "Sounds of Worship"! The cd is a recording of our COZV children singing worship songs in both English and several tribal languages. Please contact our office if you'd like to purchase a copy of the cd.

Mt Zion Volunteer Team

A team of volunteers from Mt Zion, COZV's founding church, worked hard on a number of projects during their recent mission trip. One of the tasks they accomplished was the building of a raft to hold the water pump which provides all of the water for COZV. The raft enables the pump to be serviced without anyone needing to enter the water where crocodiles live! The launching of the raft was a cause for celebration of both the children and the volunteers.

As always, the volunteer team brought loads of love and fun to share with the children at COZV. Music, games, crafts, Bible studies, village visits, and extra people to play with were ways our ministry was blessed by our friends on this team.
